More than Consignment, this new program offers a variety of options for Local Authors.
Thank you for your interest in placing your book at Page One Bookstore.
If your book has been published by an established publisher, is returnable, and we decide to carry it, we will purchase directly from that publisher. If that is the case, you are welcome to send notification of your book's publication to loveyourlocal@page1book.com
If your book is self-published or not readily available through our normal wholesalers (i.e. Baker & Taylor, Ingram), we offer you the opportunity for us to sell your book on a consignment basis. On consignment, the book remains the property of the author until sold. Page One is not responsible for lost or stolen merchandise. If you would like your book considered for stock, please read through this page and send an email to consignment@page1book.com.
Guidelines:
A $25 one-time service fee is required for each account. This fee helps pay for the extra labor involved in tracking inventory and payments for each title.
In keeping with our general inventory, only books published with a printed and bound spine and displaying an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) will be considered. For authors able to meet these conditions, our normal terms are 60/40, i.e. you receive 60% of the book's cover price when sold.
Please submit all consignment requests in writing. We request that authors read through the information on this webpage before bringing books for consignment. Please email consignment@page1book.com to set up an appointment with our consignment staff.
The email should contain a one paragraph letter including your contact information, ISBN and price details, any promotional materials and publicity plans.
Page One consignment staff will review the submitted materials and contact the author when Page One is ready to proceed.
Notice: If you leave multiple copies of your book at our store without prior approval, Page One assumes no responsibility for lost property.
We are proud to support our community through the Local Author Program.
Terms:
Page One will pay cash or check at the end of the six (6) month cycle. The cycles will run from October 1st thru March 31st and then from April 1st thru September 30th. While we will accept books throughout the year, sales histories will be considered during the cycle above.
Books with no sales at the end of the cycle will be available for pickup by the author for one month after the cycle concludes. Books left at Page One will be donated after one month to a charity. Shipping charges are the responsibility of the author.
Marketing and individual promotion of titles are the responsibility of the author.
Accepted consignment titles will be put into inventory on or around the 1st of the month following receipt of books and materials.
Page One will only pay for items that were sold. Damaged or stolen items are the sole financial responsibility of the author.

Tips for Making Your Book a Success!
Encourage your friends and family to purchase your book at Page One.
Contact your local media, alumnae organization, clubs, etc. to let them know about your book. Don't just pitch them the book though: pitch them a "story". In other words, give them content to write a story about you and your book. For example, how did you get the idea for the book? Is the subject matter relevant to something going on in the news today? Is your town, college or club mentioned in the book?
Be sure to mention that the book is available at Page One.
Offer to speak at book club meetings, libraries, Rotary Club, and any organization / venue that might be looking for speakers.
Send out press releases, review copies and other promotional materials.
Remember: Greater success comes from a wide array of author-coordinated promotion.
